C. Barrow Engineering - Custom machining and engineering services
About

Hello! I am Calum, a ‘traditional’ engineer based in West Yorkshire with a love of all things old and mechanical.

I’ve built up my knowledge over a number of years working on my own vehicles and machines and working as an engineer in the heritage rail industry. I am a skilled manual machinist regularly running lathes, milling machines, horizontal borers, planers, slotters, shapers, surface grinders and more. For the past 10 years I have been making one-off parts and repairs for mainline steam locomotives, many of which are safety critical valves and brake components, and have set up my own business to offer custom machining work to a wider range of clients and needs.

I own and maintain a range of classic cars and motorcycles about which I am very passionate. As well as ongoing maintenance and component overhauls, I have also completed full vehicle restorations. More than anything, I enjoy using old and vintage machines as intended and I set up C Barrow Engineering to focus my efforts on helping others do the same.
